Funding & Finance
Hearing aids are a big investment, but they are actually one of the most cost-effective ways of improving and maintaining your health and quality of life.
If you need hearing aids you may be eligible for rebates or assistance for all or part of the cost. If any of the following apply to you then please read the relevant section:
- Australian Pensioners and Veterans – Free Hearing Tests and Free Hearing Aids
- Children and Young Adults under 26 – Free Hearing Aids
- WorkCover and Worker’s Compensation Claims
- Private Health Insurance
- Financial Hardship
Australian Pensioners and Veterans Free Hearing Tests and Free Hearing Aids
If you are an Australian Pensioner (receiving an Australian Pension, including but not limited to a Senior’s Pension) or an Australian Veteran you may be eligible for free hearing services, including free hearing aids, under the Office of Hearing Services Scheme. Hearing and Audiology can provide you with these services. Applying is quick and easy. Please click here to find out what you are eligible for and how to apply.
Children and Young Adults under 26 Free Hearing Aids
Children and young adults under the age of 26 who are Australian citizens or permanent residents are able to obtain free hearing loss treatments once they have a diagnosed permanent hearing loss. If your child is diagnosed with a hearing loss by one of our audiologists we will explain how you can access these free services for your child. For more information on our Child Hearing Tests click here.
WorkCover and Worker’s Compensation Claims
We provide hearing services under the WorkCover scheme. You will need to discuss this with WorkCover or your employer. For more information on our WorkCover services click here.
If you have private health insurance you may be eligible for a rebate on hearing aids. Please contact your health fund directly to see if you qualify for any rebates. No matter what health fund you are with, you can still see Hearing and Audiology, and as long as your insurance covers hearing aids, you are eligible for that rebate. We recommend calling your health insurer before you come to your appointment. Then you’ll know if you will be covered and for how much if the audiologist needs to discuss hearing aids with you.
If you are experiencing financial hardship Hearing and Audiology may be able to work with you to arrange a payment plan. Payment plan eligibility is assessed on a case by case basis and is usually reserved for those in need. Please speak to your audiologist if you would like further information.
