Medicare Rebates for Hearing Tests

You do not need a referral to see an Audiologist. However, if you have a referral from a Medical Practioner (e.g. your GP, Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist, Neurologist), you will be able to claim a Medicare Rebate for the assessment. Please be aware that the cost of seeing your GP or an Ear Nose and Throat surgeon can be more expensive than the amount Medicare will rebate, so unless you already have one of these referrals we do not suggest you go out of your way to get one.

Private Health Insurance Rebates for Hearing Tests

If you are a member of a private health fund you may be eligible for a rebate on an assessment or on hearing aids. Please contact your health fund directly to see if you qualify for any rebates. No matter what health fund you are with, you can still see Hearing and Audiology, and as long as your insurance covers hearing assessments or hearing aids, you are eligible for that rebate.

Australian Pensioners and Veterans

If you are an Australian Pensioner or Veteran you are entitled to free hearing services, including hearing aids, through the Hearing Services Program. We can provide these services. Please see our Pensioners and Veterans page for more information.

WorkCover and Worker’s Compensation Claims

We provide hearing services under the WorkCover scheme. You will need to discuss this with WorkCover or your employer. For more information on our WorkCover services click here.

Concession Card Holders

If you hold a concession card, such as a Senior’s Card or a Health Care Card, we offer a discount on our hearing tests. Please let us know when you book your appointment if this applies to you.
