Hearing Aid Fitting Services
Hearing loss can make you feel isolated, but the problem can often be resolved by finding the perfect hearing aid solution. At Hearing And Audiology, we have over 30 years of experience in selecting and fitting the right hearing devices for you. We understand the adjustment process and are here to support you throughout the process.
A hearing aid fitting goes beyond finding the right device for the patient’s needs; the chosen device needs to be properly fitted so that it provides the correct amount of amplification.
Before finding the right hearing aid, our audiologists will conduct a hearing assessment to measure the “softest” sound the patient can hear at different frequencies. This test is used by the audiologist to know how much gain the hearing aid will need to allow the patient to hear the softest sounds. This appointment also gives patients the opportunity to discuss different hearing aid styles, the different levels of technology, and any associated costs of the hearing aids with the audiologist, who will make recommendations based on the hearing assessment.
Once the right hearing aid has been selected, the audiologist will organise for the devices to be fitted. During the fitting appointment, the audiologist will fine tune the hearing aids until they are optimal for the patient’s hearing loss. The patient will also learn how to operate and clean their hearing aids.
A week after the fitting, patients will attend a follow-up appointment where further fine-tuning and rehabilitation will occur. This is another opportunity for the patient to ask the audiologist any questions that have arisen during the week of hearing aid use. The audiologist will reiterate how to operate the hearing aids and clarify other information that may have been missed at the fitting appointment.
